Welcome
Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome to Bridge of Weir Primary’s brand new school website!
I hope you will find the information on the website helpful and enjoy following the learning and teaching on our school blog.
Bridge of Weir Primary is a happy, warm and friendly school that strives to provide the very best education for our learners. We work hard to ensure everyone is valued and able to give their best effort to learning.
Our well-mannered, friendly pupils and caring, committed staff ensure that you can be confident in leaving your child with us in the certain knowledge that they will become better learners and happy, well-adjusted members of society.
We work in partnership with parents and our community as we believe that together we can achieve much more to ensure our attainment and achievement is the highest it can be.
We believe in challenging our teachers, learners and parents to develop a ‘Growth Mindset.’ A Growth Mindset encourages the very best attitudes to learning which in turn supports success and happiness.
“You have to apply yourself each day to becoming a little better. By becoming a little better each and every day, over a period of time, you will become a lot better.” – John Wooden
We also hope our growth mindset approach will support our work in developing the teaching and learning of maths. We aim to equip our learners with strong mathematical knowledge and skills and an appreciation of the creativity and enjoyment to be found in the study of maths.
“It’s not that I’m so smart, it’s just that I stay with problems longer.” – Albert Einstein
Our ‘Curriculum for Excellence’ is engaging and varied and our learners have two very different opportunities. Firstly to develop their literacy, science, maths and engineering skills in weekly technology lessons and secondly the chance to develop literacy and art skills in weekly art and design lessons. In addition to this there are exciting developments in our use of computers and iPads to support and challenge learning and making use of our extensive grounds to develop learning in the outdoors.
Bridge of Weir Primary is an exciting place to be and we are sure you would have wished that school had been like this when you were a child.
Yours sincerely
Susan Bell
