Forest Kindergarten

We place enormous value on the outdoors here in Bridge of Weir ELCC and we encourage free flowing indoor/outdoor play all day, everyday. To support the great learning taking place outdoors further, we now have Angela working toward achieving The Forest Kindergarten Award.

The course specifically meets the needs of Early Years practitioners who wish to carry out forest/woodland visits. It is becoming increasingly recognised that there are many benefits to allowing children the freedom to play in woods and forests on a frequent and regular basis. This includes increased physical activity, greater knowledge about nature, and in the long term, a stronger likelihood that these children grow up to become adults who understand and demonstrate positive attitudes and actions towards caring for the environment. This course recognises the value of outdoor as an integral part of the learning process for children in their earliest years.

We look forward to supporting Angela through her training over the next 6 months and we are sure she will have a great impact on our outdoor learning.
